With a packed 15-game schedule, it may be overwhelming to choose which games to watch. Here are five must-see matchups you won't want to miss, available on ESPN and NBA League Pass.
The Spurs visit the defending champs in the final game of their annual rodeo road trip and the fifth game since acquiring De’Aaron Fox.
The Spurs are 2-2 since making the trade and coming off a win in Washington that saw Fox (30) and Victor Wembanyama (31) combine for 61 points. It was Wembanyama’s 23rd career game with 30-plus points, but the first in which he had a teammate score 30 or more.
Boston’s All-Star combo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown has eight seasons of experience together and 27 games in which both scored 30 or more (the eighth most such games in NBA history).
Only three players have more 40-plus point games as a visitor at Madison Square Garden than Trae Young: Hall of Famers Kobe Bryant (three), Bernard King (five) and Michael Jordan (seven).
In 13 games at MSG, Young has averaged 26.3 points and 8.4 assists. After beginning his career 1-5 there, Young has gone 5-3 at MSG since then, including the memorable showing in the first round of the 2021 NBA Playoffs.
Tonight’s game features a matchup of All-Star point guards in Young and New York’s Jalen Brunson, who is looking to bounce back from scoring a season-low eight points as he battled foul trouble in Tuesday’s win against the Pacers.
Can Shai Gilgeous-Alexander do it again? The league’s leading scorer has three 50+ point games in his career — all of which have come in the past three weeks, on three consecutive Wednesdays.
On Jan. 22, Gilgeous-Alexander scored a career-best 54 points in a win against Utah. On Jan. 29, he scored 52 in a loss at Golden State. On Feb. 5, he scored 50 in a win against Phoenix.
The only other player in NBA history with such a streak was Wilt Chamberlain in 1961. Not even Chamberlain scored 50-plus points on four consecutive Wednesdays.
All eyes were on Los Angeles on Monday for the Lakers’ debut of Luka Dončić, who had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes in L.A.’s win against Utah. It was the sixth straight win — and 12th in the last 14 games — for the Lakers, who are No. 4 in the West as the All-Star break approaches.
While Dončić is listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game, if there is a chance he’s playing, this game has to be on the must-watch list.
Dončić and LeBron James will continue to play off each other, and building on-court chemistry will be fascinating to watch over the coming weeks as the Lakers try to secure their playoff position.
Golden State looks to improve to 3-0 with Jimmy Butler in the lineup when the new-look Warriors visit the Mavericks.
In his first two games as a Warrior, Butler has averaged 22.5 points on 45.8% shooting and 5.5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2.5 steals per game. He gives the Warriors another scorer and playmaker to complement Stephen Curry.
This game is also key to the West’s playoff chase as No. 8 Dallas has a half-game lead on No. 9 Sacramento and No. 10 Golden State. A win would give the Warriors a 2-1 season-series lead and bump the Mavs to No. 10.
