Manchester United's pursuit of Manuel Ugarte has been given a significant boost as they have successfully negotiated a deal with Napoli for the transfer of Scott McTominay.
A fee in the region of €30million (£25.4m; $33.6m) has been agreed with the Serie A club, but United still need to find a resolution with McTominay who still has 12 months remaining on his current deal.
Given his status as a homegrown player, McTominay’s impending sale would represent ‘pure profit’ for United who need to satsify PSR regulations before they can continue with their own recruitment drive.
With just five days remaining of the summer transfer window, Erik ten Hag is still searching for reinforcements in several key areas with the need to strengthen in central midfield an obvious priority.
